Heiligenblut, Hunguest Hotel Heiligenblut - Winter

In the romantic winter sports region surrounding the Großglockner/Heiligenblut (1.301 m above sea level) in the middle of the Hohe Tauern national park, there are 13 ski lifts for sports enthusiasts to use and that will take you up to 2.912 m above sea level. The certainty of snow is almost guaranteed due to the ideal location. A total of 55 km of slopes awaits you to challenge your skiing and snowboarding skills.

In addition, Heiligenblut has a lot to offer away from the ski slopes, such as toboggan runs and ice skating, ice climbing on the frozen waterfall, horse-drawn sleigh rides, skiing tours and winter hiking trails.

Ski Tours
The mountains surrounding Heiligenblut are worth the climb, especially in the winter. Whether you choose to explore on cross country sAkis or with snowshoes on your feet and your snowboard on your back, this type of excursion is part of the extraordinary vacation you will have.

There are numerous well prepared cross-country skiing routes just waiting to be explored. For example, directly in Heiligenblut: 3 km of cross country tracks at 2.200 m, skating or classic; "Glockner" and "Sonnenblick" tracks in the valley, 10 km, skating or classic.

Available from the beginning of January until March, accompanied by a mountain guide, for those who would like to experience this fascinating sport are the Fleißtal waterfalls. The best time for ice climbing is the beginning of January until March.

Monday: Ibex viewing

You meet the national park rangers, and you receive your special rental equipment (snowshoes, poles, binoculars).

Then you will take part in a guided snowshoe tour from the skiing area to the edge of National Park to visit the winter habitat of the ibex.

A magical nature experience!

This is followed by a visit to the cosy Fleiß-Almkuchl lodge with mouth-watering threats from the National Park region.
Tuesday: Horse-drawn sleigh ride & winter hiking

The National Park winter shuttle takes you from Heiligenblut to the idyllic mountain village Apriach (1,600 m above sea level).
Apriach is located on the sunny side of the Mölltal, directly opposite to the Grossglockner!

First a sleigh ride, then accompained by a National Park ranger, a hike through the winter wonderland of the Apriach mountain pastures.
A hearty farmers´platter in a traditional Alpine lodge is part of the programme.
Wednesday: Magical winter nights

Easy, guided torchlit hike from Heiligenblut to the idyllic, snow-covered rest area at the foot of the glittering ice cascades of the Gößnitz waterfall.
Oper air buffet and mouth-watering treats from the National Park region are included.

Thursday: Snowshoe trekking in the Asten valley
With the National Park winter shuttle you travel from Heiligenblut over Großkirchheim until the romantic Sadnighaus (1,900 m) to the beautiful Asten valley.
You meet with the National Park Ranger, who provides you your special rental equipment (snowshoes, poles). The guided snowshoe leads you through to the deep snow-covered, magical Asten valley.
Here you can build together an igloo. You can take a rest at Sadnighaus, that awaits you with regional specialities and pleasant atmosphere.
Friday: The first deep snow descent
You meet with a certified mountain and ski guide from the ski school of Heiligenblut. Here you get the special equipment.
With the Grossglockner cable car you travel to the skiing resort, following with some instructions from the guides and then first deep-snow skiing begins.
The brunch is included in one of the romantic ski lodges.
