The hotel offers 56 double standard, 2 standard rooms for disabled guests, 24 superior, 20 connecting double standard rooms for families, 153 double standard rooms with balcony, 4 standard rooms with balcony for disabled guests, 4 junior suites, 5 suites with castle view, 10 connecting double standard rooms with balcony for families. The entire hotel and bath are fully accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Each of our rooms has 2 pieces 90 x 200 cm beds, Internet access and room safe. Non-smoking floors and rooms await our guests. Most rooms are equipped with bathroom with showers and hair-dryer and command beautiful view to the Castle Garden and the boating pond. One extra bed can be supplied in every standard room with balcony. Two extra bed can be supplied in every superior room, junior suite and suite.

Our connecting family rooms consist of 2 standard rooms that can be connected to each other, the version of the connecting family rooms with a balcony can accommodate an extra bed.

Restaurant

Unforgettable tastes contribute to the guests’ experiences. Beside Hungarian specialities, our restaurant, the Orchidea with minimal style, offers tastes of international cuisine for gourmands and local specialities, as well in buffet style. In our chef’s offer reform and vegetarian dishes can be found, but – as far as possible - individual wishes can also be fulfilled.

In our Café ’Violin’ coffee specialities and a wide range of excellent drinks are offered. In addition, specialities of the Hungarian wine regions are launched.

Half-board buffet breakfast and dinner is served at the Orchidea restaurant. Our guests can have a’la carte lunch in the Violin drink bar.

Events / Conferences

Our conference room called ‘Erkel’ has a capacity of max. 295 people and the foyer of this room called Hunyadi Saloon has a capacity of 150 people and is equipped with extensive technical support. Successful conferences, business meetings, family occasions and exhibitions can be organized with demanding care and professional services.

The hotel has two section rooms, with the capacity of 40 pax, ensure a perfect place for small conferences and meetings.

Kids’ area
Every day from 0 - 24. Located within the hotel on the ground floor, on the corridor of the Castle Bath. Located within the hotel on the ground floor of the Várfürdő’s corridor.

The playground is located opposite of the hotel, in the Castle Garden. A climbing frame, swing and many other toys await your children.

Opposite of our hotel, during a pleasant walk in the Castle Garden, you can admire the castle, the Boating Lake and its flora and fauna.

Castle bath
Our guests can enter the Castle Bath with a plastic watch, which can be collected at the reception desk upon arrival. For the first time, the watch is activated by the reception. After this, entry and leaving is unlimited during the opening hours. If the watch is activated on the day of arrival, it is no longer valid on the day of departure. If the watch is activated on the day following the arrival, it is still valid on the day of departure. Please, take care of the watch as HUF 4 000 deposit is charged per watch for damages if the watch is lost. The hotel and the Castle Spa are operated separately, therefore we are not responsible for accidents or thefts in the area of the spa.

Please note that in case of the bathrobe’s disappearance, a compensation fee of HUF 12,000 will be charged to your room account. Your bathrobe will be replaced free of charge after 4 nights; if you request a replacement before that, a fee of HUF 1,500 will apply.

Full bed linen change in the rooms occurs every three days, but it can be arranged daily upon request.

Meals - Special diets
We would like to inform you that our kitchen uses eggs, milk, flour, and various types of nuts and seeds. As a result, we cannot completely guarantee the absence of cross-contamination, and therefore our dishes may contain traces of allergens.

We would like to inform our gluten-sensitive guests that our kitchen prepares dishes that are„gluten-free” but cannot eliminate the risk of cross-contamination. Gluten-free products (bread, pastries) are served in individually packaged forms.

Please inform the head waiter of any dietary restrictions or allergies during your first dinner at the restaurant and let them know your specific dietary needs.

Medication
The hotel does not supply pharmaceutical products. Only bandages, adhesive plasters, and digital thermometers can be requested at reception.

Push the reset button on the arrow sign can be found inside of the safe door, until you heara beeping sound. In this way you can delete the previous code. Give an optional combination of numbers (min 4, max 8 digits) and record it with the bottom right (B) button.

• How to lock the safe
Close the safe door, then turn left the handle.

• How to open the safe
Enter the optional code, which you have chosen earlier, then press the button „B”, then turn the handle right, until the green light is on. If the green light goes off earlier, repeat the above steps.

Three steps for using the safe in the 2nd building:

Temperature control
Usage of the temperature controller of the 1st building:
Air conditioning is operated by the wall-mounted unit. The inflow level can be set in three positions by turning the slide switch downwards, and you can set the cold level by moving the turn switch to the left. Turning to the right will modify the intensity of heating. There is a one way opportunity in both cases, if we cool centrally, there is no heating, and vice versa.
Useage of the temperature controller of the 2nd building:
It is managed with the control unit on the wall. The unit can be turned on/off by pressing the middle power button. By pressing the „fan” button, you can adjust the blowing strength in three levels, by long pressing the „book, menu” button, you can choose between the „Coo/ Hea” Cooling/Heating operating modes, while the desired temperature can be set with the „up/down” buttons. Seasonally, the adjustment option is one-way, i.e. while there is central cooling, there is no heating and vice versa. When the cooling/heating is in operation, please keep the window closed, because it does not operate when it is open.

Toothbrush and toothpaste
If you need it, please contact the reception!

Towel usage
The in-room amenities include the following textiles for your use: 2 hand towels, 2 bath towels, 2 bathrobes, and 1 bath mat. If you would like your towels changed, please place them on the floor.
You can request a wellness towel at the hotel’s Spa department with the coupon provided at the reception. Please return the towel and hand in the coupon at the reception before settling your bill upon departure. If the coupon is not returned, a compensation fee of HUF .000 will be charged. Your wellness towel will be replaced free of charge after 4 nights; if you request an earlier replacement, a fee of HUF 1.500 will apply.

Centuries of history; the heritage of Ferenc Erkel; the Almásy; and the Wenckheim families; the natural wonders of the Körös Valley with its flavours, scents, and flowers await you with a warm hospitality when you visit us.

Explore the city

The Gyula Castle Spa is one of the main attractions of Gyula. It boasts 5,500 m2 of water surface and a total of 23 pools. The 72 oC (alkaline- hydrocarbonate-chloride) thermal water, which springs up from a depth of 2005 metres, is particularly effective for alleviating degenerative disorders, and some chronic neurological, inflammatory and gynaecological problems. AquaPalace, an indoor pool complex. It has been operating since 2013 and is open all year round. AquaPalace is a good choice for those seeking an adrenaline rush, as well as for those who visit the spa for adventure and are not afraid of slides or diving pools. The facility covers an area of more than 6000 square metres and has countless pool features, including a variety of slides; a 3.5 metre diving pool; fountain bubblers; waterfalls; an illuminated water slide tunnel; and a lazy river ride.

Children will also be able to relax and enjoy their visit, as there are separate play areas for families with children of all ages: there are both children and baby pools. While the children splash around or test their courage on the “deep-water trampoline,” adults can relax in the water bar or enjoy the new sauna world. The baby-momma corner is a tranquil area where the little ones who need care and relaxation can retreat from the busier sections.

Castle

The Gyula Castle was built in the 15th century and is now the only flatland brick castle in Central and Eastern Europe that is still intact. The castle is situated in a beautiful park and there is a lovely boating pond in front of it. Within the ancient walls of the castle there is an exceptional museum with 24 exhibition rooms that tell the history of almost seven centuries. The rooms include a dungeon, torture room, workshops, kitchen, pantry, a Lady’s Room, the Knights’ Hall, a Chapel, and other residential areas. There is a beautiful view of the city from the lookout tower. On a clear day you can admire the Bihar Mountains of neighbouring Romania from this vantage point. The castle was built by János Maróti and its extension is the legacy of János Corvin, the son of the great Hungarian king, Matthias. It was he, who had the cannon tower (rondella aka Corvin Bastion) built.

The Almásy Mansion Visitor Centre of Gyula

The Almásy Mansion is the first one in Hungary to host a theatrical play in as early as 1746. Several generations of the Erkel family held recitals here, and Ferenc Erkel composed parts of several of his operas in the park of the Almásy Palace. Ten of the thirteen martyrs of Arad laid down their arms here. It was here that Mihály Munkácsy first became acquainted with the art of painting. The exhibition uses state-of-the-art interactive technology to reveal fascinating details and secrets of the daily lives of the aristocrats and staff who once lived here. The Almásy Mansion Visitor Centre in Gyula was ranked among the 40 best museums in Europe in 2018.

Erkel Ferenc Memorial House

The School of Németgyula and the teacher’s house were built in 1795. In 1821 the house that served as a school and home for the teachers’ families was extended to provide an additional classroom. The wing of the house facing the square accommodated the school, while the one facing Ajtóssy Street was the teacher’s residence. The part of the house designated for the school deteriorated considerably in the winter of 1829-1830 and partially collapsed. Subsequently, the house in its current form was rebuilt by Mihály Nuszbek at the end of 1830. The teachers’ house, which was also home to the choirmaster of the town at that time, acquired its final Neoclassical form after a renovation that took place in 1830. A teacher named József Erkel arrived from Bratislava in 1806. He lived and taught in this school until 1841. József Erkel had a son born in this house on 7 November in 1810.

Gyula Pálinka Festival

The first festival name was Kisüsti Pálinka Festival, it was held in Gyula in 2000, when the true value of pálinka was not yet fully accepted in the country. This festival was the first to undertake the promotion of Hungarian pálinka more than two decades ago. Gyula is the capital of pálinka. During the 3-day festival in Gyula, the Hungarian brandy, pálinka is the focus of attention. Pálinka is the national pride of the Hungarian people, Hungarian gastronomy cannot be imagined without this excellent hungaricum.

The goal of the organizers is that visitors and representatives of the trade can participate in an event where Hungarian brandies are well represented. It is important that the producer and the consumer find each other, since in this environment it is possible to get to know the producers of Hungarian pálinka and the result of their work, the pálinka, in the most ideal way. The purpose of the festival is to promote cultured pálinka consumption, to expand the tourism offer of the city of Gyula, and to keep Hungarian gastronomic traditions alive.

The 3-day event awaits visitors with a number of programs, and the largest Hungarian palinka producers, as exhibitors are waiting for those interested in the brandy.

The border fortress days of Gyula

Held since 1955, the border fortress days of Gyula is an event that recalls the siege of Gyula Castle in 1566 with traditional presentations, historical performances, children’s programs and concerts. This event is one of the most spectacular war games in our country, where visitors can learn about the life of the castle valiants, the history of the castle and its surroundings, the legends of their heroic defenders, and the lives of the defenders and besiegers. Traditionalist associations in the castle and in the Castle Garden present the 16th century era with decorations, costumes, weapons and combat techniques. The event offers many programs not only for people interested in history, but also for families, children and young people.

Children can play on the playgrounds in the castle and in the Castle Garden, participate in handicrafts, falconry and blacksmith workshop demonstrations, while young people are welcomed with music concerts. The border fortress days of Gyula is therefore an event where history and entertainment are connected, and where visitors can relive the memory of the heroes of Gyula Castle.

Csabai Sausage Festival

The Csabai Sausage Festival, held in Békéscsaba, is one of the largest and most popular gastronomic events in Hungary, based on the famous Hungarian sausage which is protected by the European Union. The Csabai Sausage Festival is the most valuable tourist product of the city of Békéscsaba, which also defines the locality’s image. Since the first festival, held in 1997, it has grown into one of the most significant tourist attractions both internationally and domestically. The event is held annually, usually in the last week of October.

During the four days of the event, sausage competitions await visitors. Pig slaughtering demonstrations take place daily, where participants can get to know the customs of the different regions. Most of the guests return to the event year after year, which has maintained its popularity for years with its unique atmosphere, friendly atmosphere, and high-quality programs. The good atmosphere is provided by folk music, folk dance and entertaining music performers, who present the cultural values of the city and its countryside. In the evenings, well-known domestic and foreign performers await the audience at 4 locations. Many restaurants offer traditional, tasty products from Csaba.
