Stepping up in Tokaj-Hegyalja: The wine region's first five-star superior hotel has arrived

The Andrássy Kúria & Spa in Tarcali has taken a historic step forward in the tourism offer of Tokaj-Hegyalja: from March 2026, the hotel will offer Hungary's highest five-star superior experience. The 53-room hotel, operated by Hunguest Hotels, a subsidiary of OPUS GLOBAL, has thus become a regional pioneer in the luxury hotel sector. The leap in quality is also reflected in the gastronomic excellence, with the hotel's Talu restaurant having recently been awarded the prestigious two chef's hats by Gault & Millau, following three Michelin Guide awards.

The Andrássy Mansion & Spa has undergone a number of upgrades in order to achieve the superior rating. The unique interior design, which stands out from the five-star luxury category, is reflected in the entire interior design with a special use of materials. The high-style yet harmonious harmony perfectly ensures a personalised pampering and premium experience. Even at the five-star level, lush indoor greenery and exclusive details such as real shell pots or leather-covered utensils are standard. But to achieve the superior rating, accessories must be arranged in a deeper, artfully composed scheme. The five-star superior ranking also opens up new horizons in the field of gastronomy: chef Árpád Cserbák, who joined Talu restaurant in the autumn, has created a gastronomic offer based on fresh, local ingredients from local producers, complemented by a representative 150-item wine list and a gourmet night menu. The superior rating is one of the highest professional recognitions in the hotel industry: the Hotelstars Union evaluates hotels based on hundreds of criteria. Only those five-star hotels that meet the obligatory requirements and provide outstanding performance in the luxury category can be awarded this grade.

By achieving the five-star superior rating, the Andrássy Curia & Spa has become the first hotel in Tokaj-Hegyalja to achieve this category. The hotel has joined the elite circle of hotels in the country: it is the second hotel in Northern Hungary to receive this prestigious recognition, while nine hotels in the provincial hotel market currently boast the highest rating.

The highest rating is not only a success for the hotel, but also a milestone in the rise of tourism in the Tokaj wine region and Zemplén. The emergence of the highest hotel quality confirms the region's place on the map of premium destinations, while at the same time significantly increasing the international visibility and attractiveness of the region.
